How the Cremation Process Works?
Are you going to be cremating a loved one for the very first time soon? Before you do, you should make sure that you understand how cremation services in Sacramento, CA will play out. Not everyone is familiar with the cremation process just yet. But it’s simple enough to learn how it works from start to finish. Keep reading to find out about the different steps that will be associated with the cremation process.
What are the Cremation Steps?
To begin, a person’s body is identified and their family signs off on their cremation.
At the beginning of the Sacramento, CA cremation process, a crematory will kick things off by identifying a person’s body. Each crematory takes a slightly different approach to doing this. But more often than not, a crematory will have several different ways in which they’ll ID a person’s body for cremation. They’ll also touch base with a person’s family and have them sign off on the cremation that is going to take place. Until this has been done, a crematory cannot officially start the cremation process.
Next, a person’s body is prepared for their cremation.
Once a person’s body has been prepared for cremation and their family has signed off on it, a crematory will start the process of getting their body ready for their cremation. They’ll remove medical devices from their body, take off jewelry, and put their body into a combustible cremation container. This cremation container will be used to jumpstart a person’s cremation. Some families choose to place items like letters, photos, and more into their loved one’s cremation containers so that they can be cremated along with them.
Then, a person’s body is put into a cremation chamber.
After a person’s body is tucked inside of a cremation container, the container will be pushed into a cremation chamber. This cremation chamber will warm up quickly and will reach temperatures of somewhere between 1,500 and 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit in most cases. It’ll allow a person’s cremation to play out over the course of about two hours, though it could take a little bit longer than that depending on the temperature and the size of a person’s body.
Lastly, a person’s cremated remains are processed and given back to their family.
At this point, a person’s cremation will be complete. The only thing that will be left to do is for a crematory to gather a person’s cremated remains and process them to make them uniform in size. From there, they’ll put the remains into either a cremation urn or a basic cremation container for safekeeping. They’ll then give the remains back to a person’s family so that they can decide what they want to do with them next. They can take them home, scatter them, bury them, or go in any direction with them if they would like.
Who Has to Sign Off on Cremation?
The deceased’s spouse, husband, or wife would have to sign off on cremation. That person has authority over the body after death. In cases where no spouse or the spouse is unavailable, the son or daughter of the deceased can make decisions about the body. If there is no son or daughter, the next of kin can decide what to do with the body.
